About Us
Bless the Children’s Tapestry of Love from the Heart of the Andes Mountains
Be a part of the social fabric and creative energy of our global neighbors
Experience Tapestry of Love’s handcrafted treasures and fashion accessories made with eco-friendly practices and the use of natural and sustainably sourced materials. “Tapestry of Love” is a fair trade program where 100% of all proceeds benefit the artists and their children. It is a program of Bless the Children, Inc. a non-profit, charitable organization that has been helping orphaned, abandoned and vulnerable children around the world with improved health and nutrition, and the opportunity to go to school since 1991.
Andean Mountain Artisans and Bless the Children agree on a fair price that includes the cost of their labor and materials. This enables talented artisans to earn fair compensation for their work and a way to build on their native traditional skills. By Bless the Children purchasing these handcrafted products, this program helps elevate the indigenous artisans’ self esteem and gives them the opportunity to earn a living that provides support and independence for their families.
Funds created by the sale of these handcrafted products supports the mission of Bless the Children to improve the lives of disadvantaged children and their communities around the world. By investing the funds from your purchases back into the lives of the artisans and their children they are provided with hope for the future while introducing you to exquisite handcrafted items from diverse cultures. This program is designed with the purpose of helping to bring about a higher level of survival for the artisans
Handcrafted Products
Add global flair to your wardrobe with tagua and acaí jewelry, alpaca blend and cotton hand-loomed scarves, ponchos, capes and shawls from the Andes Mountains. Our handbag collection features beautiful alpaca blends, cotton tapestry designs and hand-embroidered styles. Other handcrafted products include Andean silver jewelry (a blend of three metals), hand-embroidered little girls’ dresses, leather change purses, hand-knitted and lined children’s animal hats, and more.
Jewelry
Our creative jewelry designs of necklaces, bracelets and earrings feature top-grade tagua palm nuts (also known as vegetable ivory) and acaí seeds from the Amazon Rainforest and are carved, dyed and assembled in a wide range of beautiful colors and styles.
Our collection includes many one-of-a-kind designs to match any taste. This handmade jewelry features a distinctly Andean perspective while being bold and classic. In viewing our collection you will be awed by the care, pride and attention to detail that is displayed in each piece by the artisan who lovingly crafted it. It is suggested that while caring for these pieces one avoid contact with water, chemical cleaners, and prolonged sunlight to prevent fading.
Our artisans employ ecologically responsible practices. The natural materials used are renewable resources. The seeds are harvested from tagua and acaí palm trees in the Amazon Rainforest of South America. Tagua is known as vegetable ivory for its look and feel. Acaí seeds are harvested for food, are high in antioxidants and have energizing properties. The seeds can be treated with organic vegetable dyes to yield a variety of colors and shades. Tagua and Acaí are “Seeds of Hope” for the indigenous people we serve in the Andes Mountains.
Olga is one of Bless the Children’s artists. She and her husband had a very hard life and were unable to feed their children well or send them to school. But now, due to their involvement as artisans for Bless the Children and other fair trade groups, they have a humble home, food and are able to provide an education for their children. They work together as a family creating handcrafted jewelry that is distinctly Andean. Funds from your purchases of tagua and acaí jewelry are invested back into the lives of the artisans and their children and provide them with a better life and hope for the future.
